Which Type Do You Need? The Type II/Cardbus PCMCIA form factor is an older technology generally found in laptops made before 2006 and some select new laptops. Many new "business-class" laptops will have this form factor as well. Note that some laptops have both the Type II/Cardbus PCMCIA and Express Card 54 form factor. The easiest physical way to determine the difference is to look in the card slot to see if there is a small block/spacer on the right hand side inside the slot, if you see this block/spacer this is an ExpressCard 54 card slot. When purchasing a PC Card through our website, be sure to choose the type that matches your computer. (The option is available inside the price box on the "view pc card" pages.) If no selection is made, the system will default to ExpressCard type. Not all equipment types are available in all areas. |
